Mount Mary Students to Graduate May 16
Nearly 230 graduates will receive degrees and certificates
MILWAUKEE, WI (May 11, 2015) - Mount Mary will conduct its spring commencement on Saturday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bloechl Recreation Center located at 2900 N. Menomonee River Parkway, Milwaukee. Nearly 230 graduates will receive degrees and certificates including 98 undergraduate degrees representing 28 majors; 108 graduate degrees representing seven programs; six doctorate degrees; and 13 post baccalaureate certificates representing five areas.
Mount Mary President Dr. Eileen Schwalbach will welcome the graduates and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Karen Friedlen will present the candidates for degrees. Senior Class Representative Sara Marie Sybesma will give the Commemorative Address.
In addition to the commencement ceremony, a Commencement Liturgy will be held on Friday, May 15 at 6:00 p.m. It will be followed by Step Singing, a Mount Mary tradition that began over 102 years ago. Graduating seniors will welcome family and friends, sing songs and read poetry. Faculty members will perform musical parodies prepared especially for the graduates. Graduates will then pass lanterns symbolizing the "light of learning" to those in their lives who provided encouragement and support during their education.
