Wauwatosa Day Care to open at Trinity Woods

Expansive child care center opens to the public Oct. 2021

Wauwatosa Day Care and Learning Center (WDLC), a child care provider with 47 years of serving the Wauwatosa area, will manage the child care center under construction at the Trinity Woods intergenerational community on the campus of Mount Mary University.

The 6,750 square-foot center will be open to the public and to the Mount Mary community, as well as the children who live with their mothers at Trinity Woods. This new center will be the second location for WDLC, which also operates at St. Jude’s Catholic Parish on the southeast side of Wauwatosa.

The center serves children from 6 weeks to 11 years of age and can accommodate up to 100 children. The facility will include play areas and separate spaces for different age groups: infants, toddlers, preschoolers and older children. A 5,420 square-foot outdoor play area is also being constructed onsite.

Trinity Woods is an intergenerational housing community at Mount Mary University formed by the three-way partnership between Mount Mary University, the School Sisters of Notre Dame and Milwaukee Catholic Home. 

Benefits include transportation to local schools, flexible scheduling from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and a summer program. The Wauwatosa Day Care and Learning Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

“We are especially excited for the intergenerational interactions that our kids will have with both the sisters and Mount Mary students,” said Wauwatosa Day Care co-owner Mary Beth Krause. “This really is a building of our community.”

Should COVID-19 continue at opening, the facility plans to continue taking precautions similar to the ones currently in place, such as taking temperatures, disinfecting the playground twice a day, enforcing social distancing and mask-wearing for children 5 and up.
