Campus to celebrate graduates during virtual Mass and Commencement ceremonies

The student speaker for Winter Commencement is Quinn Clark. Quinn Clark is graduating with a degree in Writing for New Media and a minor in Creative Writing. She was the editor-in-chief of Mount Mary's award-winning student publication, Arches, where she discovered her passion for journalism.

English faculty member Jennifer Kontny will deliver the commencement address. Kontny received the university's 2020-21 Teaching Excellence Award.

Kontny is a member of the National Council of Teachers of English, Conference on College Composition and Communication and American Associations for Applied Linguistics. She is currently researching how identity politics shape writing placement practices. The Teaching Excellence award is presented to those recognized for creative teaching, up-to-date knowledge in their field, and an honest interest in building their students, both morally and intellectually.
