What are the benefits to entering college as undecided?
I was undecided when I first entered college, which led me to explore a lot of courses and find subject matters that interested me. Entering undecided allows students the time they need to explore majors, careers and themselves. An estimated 87% of American workers aren’t passionate about their careers, so it’s important for students to take time to uncover their interests and talents.
When you were in college, what resources and experiences helped you choose your major?
While in school, I changed my major five times and had a lot of different ideas of where I wanted to end up. I eventually declared a major in communication after taking a public speaking course and learning more about the program through my professor. I also chatted with professionals in the field to learn about careers I could explore. I eventually found my home in higher education administration, after exploring all sorts of career options. I still feel that I am exploring my vocation and am thankful that I was able to experience so many different paths!
